Outdoor Wedding Decor : Lanterns

Have you thought about adding lanterns to your outdoor wedding decoration? The laterns add a touch of whimsy and romance that is so perfect for any event in outdoor. It can be in the graden or beach or even inside the tents for your reception purposes. You can add a candle (for certain types of lanterns) or an elcetric bulb inside to add a seductive and romantic ambience. Its diffused glow will sets the tone for an incredible event.

Tents for Your Wedding?

Weddings are special events. It has to be unique on its own way. It could be the setting and/or the décor. To a certain extend, it is the way the tents are set or arranged to make the event unique. Using a tent for a wedding can allow you to host the event in the park, reservoir deck, back yard or property of friends or family.

Tents can be a great addition to an outdoor wedding for many reasons.  Not only can a tent greatly enhance the appearance of your wedding, it can also greatly increase the comfort of the wedding ceremony or reception by sheltering you and your guests from the unexpected ever-changing weather forecast and bugs!

Some pictures of stylish yet very different tented weddings with details of how the decor was acheived.

Traditional white wedding tent: simple and elegant with tan carpet, gilt chairs and traditional style flowers around the sides. What stops this decor from being boring is the green accent color from, unusually, the wine glasses, and a splash of gold on the roof.

Shabby chic: another very fashionable look. Here the style comes with traditional bunting strung across the roof, a chill out area with sofas and vintage style accessories.

Blackout: Blackout walls or ceilings with starlight lighting make for a very popular look in the UK right now. Here, a single blacked out wall with starlights is combined with more traditional ivory lining and fabulous red rose floral centrepieces to stunning effect.

Something really special: Lit all in red with light stencilling and raised table centrepieces with white ball lights, this tent really stands out.

Thinking to Have an Outdoor Wedding?

Planning an outdoor wedding can be lots of fun. A garden or side of the pool setting offers one of the most romantic and sensual locations for celebrating your special day. Remember to keep it simple and elegant.

Outdoor Wedding Considerations:

Rain – Can you rent a tent as an alternative, or is there an inside backup location nearby?

Heat – Will the ceremony be in full sunlight? If so, are there shade alternatives?

Number of guests – How many guests are you inviting, and will they fit the location?

Seating – Will you have to provide seating?

Music – Will your music require electricity? Acoustic guitars, violins, harps, and other instruments may not need electricity. Battery-powered docking stations for your iPod music are another choice.

Entrance fees – Will your guests have to pay to get into the venue (e.g. park admission fee)?

Physical limitations – Based on your location, is it barrier free for your guests?

Reserve – Can you reserve the location? If you are in a public area, consider the effect of uninvited guests and gawkers at your ceremony.

Always bear in mind, just like any other events, outdoor weddings may work for some people and not for others. So, plan carefully, taking into account all pros and cons and figure out what will work best for you.

In my next post, I will elaborate more about having a outdoor wedding specifically in Singapore!
